Carbon Footprint

Footprint scope 1,2 and 3

The term footprint refers to the mark left on the environment by the amount of greenhouse gases generated into the atmosphere and the damage caused by this to the environment. That is, the amount of carbon dioxide emitted for a product, service or activity.

A footprint incorporates 3 different scope levels:

Scope 1
Direct Emissions
Generated from sources that are operated and controlled by an organisation or person, such as vehicles
Scope 2
Indirect Emissions
Generated from electricity that is utilised by an organisation or person
Scope 3
Other indirect emissions
Generated from activities by an organisation or person from other activities that they do not control, such as air travel

You can measure your footprint through our online calculator. This will give you an amount of carbon dioxide in tonnes that you or your business generates from certain activities, which in turn allows you to see opportunities to reduce your carbon footprint, or have some of it offset.
